Sometimes while creating, you often realize that you are destroying in the process. With one idea taking you somewhere usually completely different from the original idea or concept that started the whole project in the first place. 

Also, the first time some one looks at a piece they are instantly judging and misinterpreting the original thought process which has changed the outlook varying from person to person. So you end up with many destroyed ideas and perceptions in the process of creating.
